Below is the text of an article about our product range, published in the bimonthly trade magazine “Soluzioni per Lavori Pubblici” (issue no. 102 January – February 2020).
In winter, when the cold weather sets in and roads tend to freeze, ensuring road viability is a fundamental service, both economically and for the safety and well-being of motorists. Road users, now more than ever, have increasingly high expectations regarding road conditions, regardless of weather conditions. Therefore, it is an absolute priority for both road network managers and institutional oversight bodies to ensure that the quality standards of the service provided to users are adequate.
The use of common salt (NaCl, Sodium Chloride) spread on roads in winter as anti-snow and anti-ice measures is a well-established and effective practice to ensure road safety. However, behind this practice, there are specific and diversified actions, including its proper storage.
Eurosilos Sirp interprets this particular need of the road market with efficiency and professionalism
With over forty years of continuous research and innovation in the field of fiberglass silos, Eurosilos Sirp has excelled in meeting the specific needs of the road market. Today, it is capable of designing, manufacturing, and supplying reinforced fiberglass silos for road salt storage and highly innovative calcium chloride solution storage tanks that are durable and ensure complete safety over time.
A ready-to-use winter service package
Eurosilos Sirp also offers a ready-to-use winter service package, which includes both the automatic loading/unloading system and the storage system for anti-icing salt.
Vertical tank 34 m3 for containment of calcium chloride
The complete range of high-quality fiberglass silos includes, in addition to a wide variety of models with different capacities, also a hot-dip galvanized steel structure for truck passage. This structure is designed to accelerate truck loading operations while keeping the ground clean, the salt perfectly dry, and reducing the perimeter of the storage area. It is designed to withstand snow and wind loads and is equipped with: stairs, bottom parts with numerous discharge options (gravity extraction or through electrically operated valves) or through mechanical screw conveyors, with fully customizable length and inclination.
Horizontal tank 40 m3 for containment of calcium chloride
Finally, the structure can be without a walkway (the silo discharge shutter is operated by the manual emptying lever with chains), or with a tread zone (the silo discharge shutter is operated via a manual wheel). In both cases, the discharge shutter can still be operated automatically by an electrical panel.
The main advantages of our fiberglass silos
Among the main advantages of Eurosilos Sirp products are: perfectly smooth internal silo walls to ensure optimal flow of road salt and stabilized external surfaces for UV exposure; corrosion-resistant sections that are completely watertight to prevent condensation in salt storage and maintain constant humidity.
To minimize wear on metal parts in contact with salt, the extended adjustable loading/unloading pipes and discharge devices, as well as assembly fasteners, are made of stainless steel. The metal frames are certified and comply with EN 1090 standards, and all hot-dip galvanized elements are passivated and approved by EU regulations.
